2/15/12 *+*+* New PENNDOT LTAP Class Coming April 10
Is your township compliant with new ADA guidelines for accessible infrastructure?
PENNDOT’s Local Technical Assistance Program or LTAP will be having a class on April 10 titled "Americans with Disabilities Act: Requirements for Municipal Transportation Facilities." The class runs 8:00 AM – noon at the Lower Salford Township Municipal Building (379 Main Street, Harleysville, PA 19438). Breakfast will be provided.

Please join us at SEPTA first-of-its-kind facility the ribbon cutting event for the new Accessible Travel Center on 2/2/2012 at 10:00 am.
Location is at Suburban Station room 108, near Au Bon Pain (16th street entrance).
This facility will provide a relaxed and accommodating setting for riders with disabilities.

11/03/11-- NEW TEEN DRIVING LAWS START DECEMBER 24
Governor Tom Corbett has recently signed into law a tougher set of driving restrictions on junior drivers. This new legislation increases the number of hours required behind the wheel to obtain a license from 50 to 65. Ten of those hours must be night-time driving and five hours must involve inclement weather such as rain or snow. And, until the driver is 18 years old, there cannot be more than one other minor passenger in the vehicle. It also requires everyone under the age of 18 in the vehicle to be properly buckled up, whether in a seat belt, car seat or booster seat. Police officers will be able to pull over a vehicle with unsecured minors as a primary offense.

09/02/2011 -- NEW COASTER SCHEDULES BEGIN WEEK OF SEPT 5
Please note the new schedules for the Community Coaster and Upper Perk Coaster are effective beginning Sept 5, 2011. The Community Coasterhas expanded to five days of service and added the Souderton Mennonite Home. Dollar Tree, Encore Experiences and Generations of the Indian Valley are no longer stops. The Upper Perk Coaster runs -eds - Fri from 9:00am - 1:30pm. Valley Medical Center is no longer a stop.

3/25/2011 -- NEW BIKE SHARE COMES TO UPPER PERK VALLEY
The Partnership TMA has received a Creating Healthy Communities$5K grant from the Pennsylvania Department of Health's Bureau of Health Promotion and Risk Reduction to create a pilot bike share program for the Upper Perkiomen Valley in Montgomery County. Riders can use any of the colorful bicycles found at special bike racks strategically placed throughout the community. Initially, there will be no charge for this program which is slated to begin in June 2011.
Monies from the grant will also be used for Defensive Walking Workshops throughout the Indian and Upper Perk Valleys.

10/25/2010 -- PENNDOT UNVEILS NEW VIRTUAL MAPPING SOFTWARE
As part of the Transportation Improvement Project (TIP), the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation has created a TIP Visualization website that allows users to find out up-to-date details on ongoing road projects along with video of the actual construction zone.

8/10/2010 -- SCHMIDT NAMED PRESIDENT-ELECT OF ATI FOR 2012
Association of Travel Instruction (ATI) members have voted in PTMA Executive Director Peggy Schmidt as its incoming board president. ATI is a nonprofit professional group of travel instructors that teaches competent skills for persons with disabilities and senior citizens to use public transportation safely and independently.
