helpful transit advice for students.
As local teenagers prepare for a relaxing summer season, their guidance counselors are reminding them that summer break is the perfect time to get a part-time job to earn money or to get an internship to beef up their skills before graduation.
But what good is a part-time job or dream co-op placement if the student cannot get there?
The Partnership TMA, in conjunction with the Montgomery County Education to Workforce Partnership, is working with guidance counselors and the transition coordinator at Norristown Area High School to provide comprehensive transportation information and resources to its students. These mini-transit centers include: (1) information on the Mobility Hotline, a toll-free number students can call to get answers to any of their transit questions; (2) current SEPTA bus and train schedules, and (3) travel-training and "individual independent living plan" workshops that allow students to gain real experience in deciding which mode of transportation is ideal for them - and their budget!
Other local schools including Pottstown High School and North Penn High School will soon have mini-transit centers established as well.
