Share a Ride / Carpool & Vanpool

IS YOUR COMMUTE DIFFICULT?  ARE RISING GAS PRICES A CONCERN?  WANT TO HELP THE ENVIRONMENT AND PROMOTE CLEANER AIR?

Carpooling may be your answer to these questions!

Does your company want to start a carpool program?

Start by creating a carpool questionnaire that identifies such things as:

  • How often do you want to carpool?
  • What hours would you like to carpool? What times do you need to arrive at work and what time would you like to leave work?
  • Can you drive or do you just want to be a rider and contribute financially?
  • What is your motivation for joining a carpool?
  • How far do you live from work?

Once you identify a “pool” of potential participants arrange for a “Pool Party”.  Select a location where signs identifying zip codes are placed, so that employees can organize themselves into pools and decide upon their own carpool rules.  Provide an incentive to those participants that sign up and actually start their pool.  Incentives can be as simple as preferred parking closer to your front door or a gas card.

Too much work for you?  Then let the Partnership TMA survey your employees, analyze your surveys and host your “Pool Party”.  Then let us administer your program.  This service is complimentary with your PTMA membership.

If you are tired of driving alone and want to see if you can find someone that will share a ride, visit the Delaware Valley Regional Planning Commission’s web site at www.dvrpc.org and look under Share a Ride.

Worried about what would happen if you have to leave your job in the event of an emergency?  The PTMA maintains an Emergency Ride Home Program for those registered carpoolers.
