All programs are experiential and project based. Creative Community Camps
The expanded youth programs include middle school and high school students. These programs are designed as leadership development workshops dealing with city planning issues. The unique characteristic of this program is that students are given a real challenge facing a local municipality. Students have an opportunity to listen to guest speakers and learn about a community through many methods. Also, students are encouraged to work in teams and to use their researching, problem solving, writing, presenting and critical thinking skills. In addition to the real life challenge, there are many out-of-classroom experiences and real-life situations that students learn to handle. Students working on these projects are given an opportunity to present their findings and suggestions to a municipal governing body. This gives young people an opportunity to learn that they have a voice in the community.
Some of our youth program partnerships include the following:
The Partnership TMA is expanding their youth summer programs and they are always willing to work with any group. Programs can be tailored to meet either elementary or secondary age level, and time period. If you are interested in partnering with the PTMA in any of these youth programs, please contact Peggy Schmidt, Executive Director |
